Should you handle a skunk with bare hands?
Skunks, when they make their home in your yard, are animals that homeowners want to get rid of. Some homeowners may believe that they can remove the animals themselves, barehanded. However, these animals are more aggressive than they may seem. Furthermore, they can carry a variety of diseases with them. Read on to discover the dangers of handling a skunk with your bare hands.
Why You Should Never Handle A Wild Skunk
Handling a wild skunk is dangerous, to begin with, not to mention handling a skunk with your bare hands. Wild skunks are aggressive and, if they feel cornered, will not hesitate to lash out. Their bites and scratches can do great harm and can pass a variety of diseases onto you if not treated properly. Skunks are also able to spray a potent and horrible-smelling stench onto you, a stench that will not wash off easily. Skunks are extremely dangerous to handle with your bare hands and should be avoided.

Babies- Cute But Not Cuddly
If you notice a baby outside of its den, it most likely isn’t abandoned. It’s probably under the watchful eye of its mother, who will not refrain from attacking you if you get near her babies. If you notice a baby outside of its den, keep a watchful eye on it. If you get concerned about the baby, call an animal expert who will be able to provide advice. Never handle a baby with your bare hands for the
protection of both you and the skunk. Handling a baby with your bare hands can transfer disease from you to the baby, and handling a baby without proper training can put the baby at risk of being injured.
