M44

This is another lethal method of getting rid of coyotes that is considered inhumane. M44 is a device that releases sodium cyanide when it is triggered. The logic behind the use of M44 is that when it is triggered, it will release the poisonous chemical into the mouth of the coyote and cause its death.

When a coyote is poisoned with M44, it may not die immediately. The poisoned coyote could die a slow and painful death. This is why this method is regarded as inhumane. We should also mention that the use of M44 also puts pets in danger as they could also be poisoned.

Because the use of M44 is based on poisoning the target and has all the cons of poisoning, it is not a recommended measure for getting rid of coyotes.

Protection collars

Protection collars are somewhat similar to M44. The collars are worn around the neck of the prey of coyotes. When a coyote tries to bite the prey, a harmful substance is released which can kill the target. The poisonous substances introduced into protection collars include sodium fluoroacetate.

Since protection collars are more specifically aimed towards the attacker, in this case, coyotes, pets, and livestock are not at risk with this method of killing coyotes. When considering the different methods of killing coyotes, it is important to consider their suitability, in line with your preferences and plan. We do not encourage the use of inhumane methods because of the extra torture the critters endure. You should always consider local laws when choosing a method for killing coyotes.
