Will a mother mouse have a nest of babies in the attic?
A mice normally makes a nest once they locate a safe place that is close to food. A female mouse can become pregnant several times throughout the year and have babies that end up growing up and continuing the life cycle. If you are worried about a mouse having a nest of babies in your attic, you have reason to be.
The Attic
Mice tend to go to the attic because it is out of the way of human contact but it’s close enough to find food. It is also enclosed so there is no harsh weather conditions that can get to them and freeze them. The attic also has a lot of stuff in storage and all of these things are perfect for building nests with. They can use paper, wood, fabric, plastic, and more. They work hard to chew on anything and everything to create the perfect home.
A mouse can get into the attic through several ways; they can enter through a small opening leading from the outside to the inside of the home, they can enter through an open window or door and scurry along to find a place to hide, or they can climb along the eves of your home and get in that way. Once a mouse enters your home, they look for a place like an attic to make the perfect nest.

You may not realize that there is a mouse in your attic until you see signs of them, or you can hear them chewing on something above you. The signs of a mouse in the house include feces, chewed up items, or gnaw marks.
Once in the home, the mother mouse will immediately begin making her nest. She will spend her entire day chewing on things in order to free a piece of material that she can take back to the nest and add to whatever is there. She will consistently work on this for days in order to create the perfect home for her babies. Once the babies are born, she will travel back and forth during the day to feed herself and her babies. The babies will be safe in the nest when she is away from them until she can come back and be with them to feed them.
If a mouse gets into your attic, you can bet she is going to build a nest and have babies. That’s what they do, that is their nature, and they will not go against it. Once you hear a mouse in your home or see signs of a mouse in your home, you will want to work on a solution immediately in order to get rid of them. The longer you take to get rid of them, the more likely they will have a nest full of babies soon and start scavenging for food in your kitchen.
