Should I remove bats myself, or hire a pro?
When bats infest your house, you can either remove them yourself or hire a bat removal professionals to trap and remove them. Bat infestations can be nasty to deal with, and they can cause a lot of disturbance to you when they are in your home. They are small animals, but they make very large colonies and live like pack animals.
They like to colonize attics and barns and may take up your land if you allow them to. TRAPPING METHOD: Bats are very small animals, and yet, they are not insects or bugs that you can just exterminate, they are mammals. And they are not large enough for you to put in a cage, they move in a horde and so attempting to catch them one after the other will be a total waste of time. You must also remember that any method of trapping should not cause harm, distress, or pain to the bats.
RELOCATION: When you successfully trap the bats, you must be able to relocate them to an area where they will survive and not be a nuisance to any homeowner. Now to do this, you must understand their feeding patterns and what type of bats are in your home. You must also make sure that you do not separate mothers from their pups and so your trapping method must be very thorough and effective.
EXCLUSION: Once you have removed the bat colony from your home, you must seal their entrance point to prevent another colony from re-infesting your home. You can do this by caulking your attic and walls and creating a one-way exclusion device.
CLEAN-UP: After you have successfully sealed up all their entrance points, you have to go into your attic or barn and clean up all the mess they made. This can be very hazardous and dangerous, and so you must wear proper protective gear, including masks to prevent you from inhaling dry droppings that can exacerbate respiratory problems.
